Post Covid
It has truly been one hell of year!
The Miller Maxstar 400 DC is a powerful, industrial-grade DC TIG (GTAW) and Stick (SMAW) power source built for demanding fabrication, repair, and exotic alloy welding tasks. Designed for reliability, precision control, and high throughput, it’s ideal for use in industrial shops, pipe and tube fabrication, tool & die, and maintenance applications.
DC-Only / DC Welding Focus — optimized for steel, stainless steel, and exotic materials where DC welding is required. (The Maxstar line is DC-centric; aluminium welding requires AC which is typically a feature of Dynasty models.)
Wide Input Flexibility (Auto-Line™ 208–600 V) — no manual linking needed; supports both single-phase and three-phase input, ideal for sites with variable or unstable power supplies.
Amperage Range & Output — 3 to 400 A output capability. Rated output: 300 A at 32 V, 60% duty cycle.
Intuitive LCD Interface & Program Memory — a modern visual display guides setting selection, and users can save/recall multiple welding programs for consistency.
Advanced Pulse / QuietPulse™ — supports DC pulsing up to 5000 pulses per second. QuietPulse mode smooths transitions to reduce audible noise.
Blue Lightning™ & Lift-Arc™ Start — non-contact HF (High Frequency) arc initiation via Blue Lightning™ and option for Lift-Arc™ to start the arc without HF.
Pro-Set™, Locks & Limits — preconfigured parameter offers reduce setup error; “Locks & Limits” lets you restrict parameter ranges to stay within WPS (Welding Procedure Specification).
Cooler Power & “Cooler-On-Demand” — includes a dedicated power port (CPS) for a coolant unit (Coolmate™ 3.5) and cooling is only engaged when needed to reduce noise and energy use.
Robust Build & Portability — weighs approximately 57 kg (126 lb) as a stand-alone unit; the TIGRunner configuration includes cart and coolant for mobile use.
