Fronius Tig DynamicWire: Smarter TIG Cold Wire Welding
TIG Cold Wire Welding Made Easier: A Closer Look at Fronius TIG DynamicWire
Anyone who has spent time TIG welding knows that when everything comes together, the results can be excellent.
312 Stainless Steel TIG Wire is a highly alloyed, austenitic-ferritic TIG filler rod designed for joining dissimilar steels and welding difficult-to-weld materials. With approximately 29–30% chromium and 9% nickel, ER312 produces a strong weld deposit with exceptionally good resistance to weld-metal cracking.
Commonly referred to as 312 TIG Wire, ER312 TIG Rods, 29 9 TIG Wire, 29/9 Stainless TIG Wire or Weld-All TIG Rod, it is often considered a useful problem-solving filler metal for repair, maintenance and fabrication applications where the exact steel grade may be difficult to determine or where conventional fillers may be prone to cracking.
One of the main advantages of ER312 TIG wire is its ability to tolerate dilution when joining steels with significantly different compositions.
The high chromium content and ferritic-austenitic weld structure provide excellent resistance to cracking, making 312 particularly useful for joining dissimilar steels, hardenable steels, high-carbon steels, tool steels and austenitic manganese steels.
It can also be used for joining certain mild or low-alloy steels to stainless steel, particularly where a highly crack-resistant weld deposit is required.
312 is quite different from the more conventional stainless fillers such as 308L, 309L and 316L.
Where 308L is primarily associated with welding 304-type stainless steels and 309L is commonly selected for stainless-to-carbon-steel joints, 312 is often selected for more challenging materials and repair situations.
Its ability to produce a tough, crack-resistant weld deposit makes it particularly useful when dealing with unknown steels or steels that are traditionally difficult to weld.
Nevinox 312 is designed for welding tool steels, high strength and difficult to weld steels. It is also suitable for...
