Frequently Asked Questions


The majority of our items are dispatched via APC, on the day of dispatch you will recieve an email (if you have entered an email address) which will you give you and estimated delivery window of when your parcel is likley to be with you. Please note, it is your resposibility to ensure you or someone is avaliable when the courier attempts delivery, as not all our courier firms have this facility. You can track your parcel via the email to keep updated with the delivery schedual. If you are having trouble tracking your parcel, please feel free to phone the office on 02476364411 and we will try and assist you.

Heavier items are generally dispatached by pallet and are on an Economy delivery of 3-5 working days. Unfortunatly customers can not track pallet deliveries, but if you would like to call the office we will be more than happy to get an update on this for you.

In Stock Items

Items showing as in stock and avaliable are physically in our warehouse and are normally avaliable for same day dispatch. The cut off time for same day dispatch is 3:00pm Monday - Thursday and 1:30pm on Friday's. These are then usually delivered in 1-3 working days. This also means you can most likley collect from the trade counter on the same day you order, we do suggest phoning in advance just so we can have this ready for you.

Avaliable In A Few Days

Items showing 'Avaliable in a few Days' usually means stock is on the way into us, which will then be forwarded onto the customer. For these items we usually suggest 3-7 working days, but we will make every effort to reduce this where possible. Whilst we make every effort to stick to our delivery days this is a guide line only. Should you require your order by a specific date, please phone the sales office and we can validate this for you. Please note that stock is updated reguarly and our website updated daily, but we cannot always guarantee that our suppliers have sufficent stock avaliabe for next day delivery, if an issue with stock arises we will notify you as soon as we possibly can. With regards to Piher items, these are manufactured in Spain, so items showing as not in stock will usually have a delivery lead time of around 7-14 working days.

Saturday Delivery

Saturday delivery is avaliable if needed, the price is all dependent on the weight and size of the parcel. If you require a Saturday delivery, please phone the office and we will be happy to help.


1. Will I be charged VAT?

If you are in the UK you will pay VAT regardless of your status.
If you are outside of the UK but in a European Union Country, you will pay VAT if you are a private individual or company without a registered VAT number.
You will not pay import duty or VAT on your purchase when it arrives in your country.
If you are outside of the UK and European Union you will not pay VAT.

2. What is the standard Rate of VAT in the UK?
The current VAT rate in the UK is 20%.

3. What are the costs for shipping?
Standard Mainland UK Delivery:

All orders greater than £100 ex VAT are delivered Free of charge.
All orders under £100 ex VAT are charged £6.50 + VAT delivery.
UK Offshore (Channels Isles, Northern Ireland, Scottish Isles)

All orders greater than £500 ex VAT are delivered Free of charge.
All orders under £500 ex VAT are charged £25.00 + VAT delivery.
Standard Mainland European Delivery:

All orders greater than £500 ex VAT are delivered Free of charge.
All orders under £500 ex VAT are charged £25.00 + VAT delivery.

4. How long does shipping take?
All stocked items are shipped within 2-3 working days UK Mainland Delivery.
For all other deliveries outside the UK please call us on 024 7636 4411 or email us on for an estimated delivery time.

5. Can I collect my items in person?

Yes you can collect from our trade counter & show room.

6. What is your Returns Policy?
You have a 7 day approval period from the day the goods are actually received. This is to ensure that the goods meet your requirements.
Carriage costs for the return of the item will be borne by the customer and goods must be received by Sphinx Industrial Supplies in a new and unused condition. We strongly recommend that you use an insured and tracked delivery service for your returns and always obtain proof of postage.

7. Can I open a Trade Credit Account?
Yes you can. There are two ways you can do this, you can either email the office at or register online by clicking here - Register 

Credit applications, once recieved can take up to 7 working days to be completed and added to our system. If browsing the web is not your desired shopping method, please feel free to email, phone or pop into the trade counter and we will be happy to help.

8. What are the opening times?

We are open Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm and Friday 8:00am - 3:00pm
