4043 / AlSi5 Aluminium TIG Wire is one of the most widely used aluminium filler metals, offering excellent weldability, smooth arc characteristics and good resistance to weld cracking. Containing approximately 5% silicon, 4043 TIG wire provides a fluid weld pool with good wetting characteristics, making it a popular choice for general aluminium fabrication, repair and maintenance applications.
Commonly referred to as ER4043, 4043 Aluminium TIG Wire or AlSi5 TIG Wire, this filler material is particularly suited to welding many 6000-series aluminium alloys, including commonly encountered grades such as 6061 and 6082, as well as suitable aluminium-silicon base materials and castings.
The silicon content helps improve weld-pool fluidity and can produce a smooth, clean weld appearance while reducing susceptibility to hot cracking compared with some alternative aluminium fillers.
